Bomb-making blast injures six, one held

At least six people were injured when a bomb allegedly exploded while it was being made at an abandoned house in Madaripur Sadar upazila late Thursday night.

The explosion occurred in the Mollabari area of Ward No. 3 under Peyarpur Union, causing panic among local residents. The blast was so powerful that part of the tin roof of the house was blown away.

Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said police had visited the scene and that legal action would be taken against those involved in the incident. Locals alleged that bombs were being made secretly at the abandoned house of Italy expatriate and local Jubo Dal leader Razzak Molla.

They claimed that bomb-making specialists had been brought in from outside amid an ongoing dispute with an opposing group.

Four of the injured were identified as Siddiq, Ahad Gazi, Nayan Gazi and Rabbi Akon, who are locally known as bomb-making specialists. The identities of the other two injured could not immediately be confirmed.

According to local sources, those injured quickly left the scene following the explosion. As a result, their whereabouts and treatment could not immediately be confirmed.

Police later visited the scene and arrested Salauddin Gazi, son of Mofiz Gazi of the same area.

The incident has triggered fresh tension in the area, with locals fearing further violence amid the ongoing dispute.
