Additional income of farmers in Ishwardi

Vegetable cultivation on both sides of the rural road in Ishwardi by making rows of lofts on both sides of the road. The lofts are filled with green leaves of vegetables. Some have flowered, some have fruit. Rows of native fruit trees flank the vegetable patch. Lofts full of green foliage, flowers and fruits. These vegetables and indigenous fruit and vegetable crops are meeting the nutritional needs of farmers. Farmers are earning extra income by selling the produced vegetables in the market.
According to the Agriculture Office sources, the Agriculture Department is working for incentives to bring under cultivation without leaving any land uncultivated. Agriculture officials are suggesting planting of vegetables and native fruits on both sides of roads, around homesteads and in land lanes. Vegetable plantations have already become popular on both sides of some rural roads and in land lanes of Ishwardi. Farmers have already planted native vegetables and fruits on both sides of all roads and highways. In some places native fruit banana and papaya trees have already been planted.
In the Ista area of the municipality, it can be seen on the ground that the farmers have planted gourds and beans with lofts on both sides of the road. Planted banana and papaya trees. Cultivated brinjal and saffron on the plot of land. Apart from this, cultivation of beans, gourd, shrimp, sweet pumpkin, cucumber, sajina has been seen on both sides of the road in Mirkamari, Muladuli, Sultanpur, Marmi, Bakhtarpur, Arpara, Kamalpur and other villages of the upazila.
Harunor Rashid, a farmer of Baghasla village in Dashuria, planted beans along the road. He said that he has benefited by planting beans on the side of the rural road. Money was earned by selling beans in the market to meet the needs of the family. He said that every year he grows vegetables on the side of the road.
Istar Adam Ali said that there is a deep tubewell irrigation canal on the side of the road. Gourds and beans have been planted with lofts on the canal. Besides, they have planted brinjal and chilli seedlings in the canal aisle. He is selling the produced vegetables to the people of the area by meeting the needs of the family.
Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Sujan Roy said that the farmers have planted gourd, beans, and gourds on irrigation canals. Papaya, sajina, brinjal, pepper, tomato are growing on both sides of the road. Not even an inch of land will fall. An example of this would be the vegetable gardens on either side of Easter Road. Vegetable seedlings are also assisted with all kinds of advice from the Agriculture Office.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said that according to the instructions of the honorable Prime Minister, not even an inch of land should remain uncultivated. That is why we are advising farmers in different ways to plant vegetables and fruit trees on both sides of the road.
