The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested eight people in connection with snatching of Tk 11.25 crore of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL).
They have also recovered Tk 2,53,99,000 in cash from their possession.
With this, a total of Tk 6,43,49,000 has been recovered so far.
Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, Additional Commissioner, DMP (Detective Branch) disclosed this at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre in the city on Sunday.
He said they recovered the money after conducting drives in different parts of the country including Dhaka and Sunamganj. Eight people have been arrested so far in the incident.
However, the role of money carrying company Money Plant Link Private Limited has been raised and formed as much talked issue.
In this regards, Harun Or Rashid said; no gunman was kept while carrying such a huge amount of money, even the police was not informed in advance by the company while carrying the money through the deserted road so early in the morning.
Earlier on Thursday morning, Tk 11.25 crore was robbed from a vehicle of Money Plant Link Private Limited carrying Dutch-Bangla Bank’s money at 11 No road in Diabari under Turag thana in the capital. Later, Tk 3.89 crore was recovered from Uttara a few hours after the snatching incident.
The DBBL authorities filed a mugging case against unidentified muggers with Turag Police Station in connection with the incident.
