Bangladeshi youth shot dead by BSF

A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Hili border area in Dinajpur on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Shahbul Hossain Babu (23), son of one Abul Hossain, a resident of the Dharanda village of Hakimpur upazila, locals claimed.
The shooting took place around 7:30pm on Friday night inside India near the 285 sub-boundary pillar of the border.
Rafiqul Islam, a ward councilor of Hakimpur municipality in Hili, said Babu accompanied by others crossed into the Indian territory along the Hili border in the night.
“We heard two gun shots from the Indian side and subsequently came to know that Babu was shot dead by the BSF,” he said.
Lt Col Rafiqul lslam, a commandant of BGB battalion-20, confirmed the matter to the media saying that the body is yet to be handed over to them from the BSF side. A flag meeting on this will be held soon.
