Bulbul Ahmed’s used materials, awards handed over to Film Archive

Bulbul Ahmed is a shining star of the Bangladeshi film industry. He was an actor, producer and director. September 4 was the birthday of this late artiste.

On this occasion, various awards and materials used by Bulbul Ahmed during his artistic career were donated to the Bangladesh Film Archive for preservation.

This initiative has been taken by the family to preserve these awards earned by Bulbul Ahmed for his outstanding contribution to the country’s film and culture as a national treasure for future generations.

Bulbul Ahmed’s wife Daisy Ahmed and daughter Tilottoma handed over these awards and materials to Film Archive Director General M Javed Iqbal on Thursday.

Every year, on September 4, Bulbul Ahmed’s birthday is celebrated with various celebrations by his family and fans.

This year, as a special initiative, his family commemorated the day by donating the actor’s long career achievements to the Bangladesh Film Archive Museum for preservation.

They hope that by preserving his awards in the Bangladesh Film Archive, his works and achievements will live on as part of the country’s cultural heritage for future generations.

Bulbul Ahmed started her acting career with stage plays in 1958. He made his television debut in 1968 with Abdullah Al-Mamun’s drama ‘Purbabhash’.

He entered the film industry in 1973 with Abdullah Yusuf Imam’s (Yusuf Zahir) film ‘Yea Kore Biye’.

He won the Zahir Raihan Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film ‘Suryakonya’ directed by Alamgir Kabir in 1976. He has received the National Award four times. He passed away on July 15, 2010.
