Demand to cancel FF certificate

Members of the Freedom Fighters Command of Pirojpur demanded cancellation of a freedom fighter’s certificate as it has been alleged that Sohrab Hossain Bepari has obtained the certificate through deception.
The demand was placed at a press conference in the Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Wednesday. Ikri Union Freedom Fighter Command Badrul Alam Howladar read out the demand.
Among others, freedom fighters Golam Mostafa Bachhu Howladar, Sultan Maulana and Kazi Abdul Mokim, were present.
They alleged that Bepari, an inhabitant of Ikri village of Bhandaria Upazila in Pirojpur, had obtained a freedom fighter’s certificate through deception. When the matter came to light, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs in 2018 directed to stop his freedom fighter’s allowance.
Later in the same year, the National Freedom Fighter Council recommended canceling his certificate, but Bepari challenged the Council’s decision at the High Court.
When the decision was withheld, the Council moved for a leave-to-appeal against the Court’s Order. But the Apex Court dismissed the case in 2021 for a long delay.
This year on January 15, the Liberation War Ministry directed to continue Bepari’s allowance.
Against such a situation, the Pirojpur Freedom Fighters Command demanded the cancellation of his certificate and to restore the decision of the Council.
