Consolation win for Chattogram in BPL Cricket

Chattogram Challengers posted a consolation 15-run win over Dhaka Dominators in a match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Chattogram Challengers scored a fighting total of 118 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Dhaka Dominators to 103 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Chattogram Challengers collected six points from 11 matches, while Dhaka Dominators earned six points from 12 matches. Chottogram and Dhaka failed to reach the play-off stage.
Chattoram Challengers faced disastrous as they lost five wickets for 28 runs.
Third-down Usman Khan and fifth-down Curtis Campher mended the innings contributing together 41 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Campher (11) was caught by Ariful Haque off Amir Hamza when Chattogram’s total was 69 for the loss of six wickets.
Later, Ziaur Rahman and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury built a remarkable partnership. They contributed together 38 runs in the unbroken ninth wicket stand before Chattogram’s innings came to an end.
Ziaur Rahman remained unbeaten with 34 runs. His 20-ball innings saw two sixes and three fours. Ziaur Rahman bagged two wickets instead of 15 runs. Ziaur Rahman was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Earlier, Usman Khan hit a fine 30. His 29-ball knock saw four fours.
Arafat Sunny captured four wickets in the space of 22 runs, while Amir Hamza and Al-Amin Hossain took one wicket each for 13 and 22 runs respectively.
Dhaka Dominators failed to make any notable partnership.
Second-down Ariful Haque was his team’s most successful batter. He made 24 from 33 deliveries featuring one four.
Opener Soumya Sarkar scored 21 from 16 balls hitting three fours.
Besides, Zahiduzzaman and Alex Blake added 18 and 13 runs to the Dhaka’s total.
Campher claimed three wickets in the space of 15 runs, while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury bagged a pair of wickets giving 29 runs.
Nihaduzzaman and Shuvagata Hom took one wicket each for 20 and 23 runs respectively.
