Dhaka seeks skilled jobs, visa centre from Lithuania

Bangladesh has urged Lithuania to recruit more skilled workers from the country and establish a visa centre in Dhaka to facilitate travel, as the two sides discussed expanding bilateral trade, investment and cooperation in education and information technology.

The issues came up when Lithuanian non-resident Ambassador Diana Mickeviciene paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Monday.

During the meeting, they discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, cooperation in education and information technology, skilled manpower recruitment and the establishment of a Lithuanian visa centre in Dhaka.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser appreciated the continued communication and cooperation between Bangladesh and Lithuania and highlighted the potential of Bangladesh’s skilled and trained workforce.

Kobir urged Lithuania to recruit more skilled workers from Bangladesh, saying greater manpower cooperation could contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.

He also requested Lithuania to establish a visa centre in Dhaka to make the visa process easier for Bangladeshi citizens.

The Lithuanian ambassador expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the education sector.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
