Keep footpaths free from grabbers

Sidewalks are built along the road to prevent road accidents and for the safe movement of people. But in all cities, most of the sidewalks are occupied by some vested interests. In particular, the picture of Kandirpar, Tomchambridge, Rajganj, and Padua Bazaar areas of the Cumilla city has taken a shape to be occupied. There are various makeshift shops like tea and drinks, jhalmuri, clothes, shoes, fruits, and flowers on the footpaths there.
It can be said that these shops are built illegally. Some influential people are protecting them from behind. As a result, risk of traffic jams and accidents is increasing as people cannot use footpaths. Therefore, I request the authority to vacate the sidewalk for people’s interest.

Addiction to selfie

Nowadays, taking selfies on smartphones has become an addiction for many. On the road, on the bus-train, at school-college, chatting with friends, going for a walk, people take some fun selfies. These are also uploaded through social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. are full of these selfies. Almost everyone is addicted to taking selfies.
However, many people are taking selfies at the risk of their lives by running after so called likes and comments. Not only young people, but also seniors are also addicted to this selfie culture! Many were killed while taking selfies at risk. It is important to curb such a terrible hobby.
Life is a precious resource. Family and society are involved in everyone’s life. Unexpected death brings misery to the whole family. So, one has to be careful to get rid of the selfie intoxication. There is no alternative to creating public awareness in the media to curb this. I am drawing the attention of the concerned to take appropriate initiative in this regard.
