5 teenagers held for killing a school boy in Khulna

The police claimed that they have arrested five members of a teen gang of Khulna’s Dumuria on charge of kidnapping and killing a school student after watching the crime series ‘Crime Patrol’ on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Nirab Mandal,13, was son of one Shekhar Mandal and also a seventh grade student of Gutudia Secondary School. Sheikh Kani Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dumuria police station confirmed the matter to the media and said that the body of the victim boy was recovered from a room of Gutudia ACGB Secondary School in the upazila at around 1 am on Thursday night.
Five teenagers from the same school have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Their maximum age is between 12 to 15 years. The police are interrogating them.
Citing the interrogation of the detainees and Nirab’s family, the police claimed that Nirab was called after the school break on Thursday and taken to an abandoned house behind the school.
Later, the kidnappers demanded a huge amount of money as ransom from Nirab’s father.
Victim’s father Shekhar Mandal reported the matter to the police. Police believe Nirab was strangled to death shortly after. And later his body was brought to the school house and hung from the ceiling.
The police tracked the mobile number and arrested the teenagers suspected to be involved in the incident.
On Friday morning, OC Sheikh Kani Mia said, “In interrogation, the detainees said that after seeing the crime patrol, they planned to earn money quickly by collecting the ransom.” The case is being prepared in this case. They will be arrested and sent to court. The body has been sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
 Crime Patrol is an Indian television series that has been running for more than two decades. Based on various true crime series, the series is made in Hindi language. Like many other series it is also quite popular in Bangladesh due to Bengali dubbing.
