Two injured as rival groups of traders open fire outside Gulshan restaurant

At least two people were bullet injured being caught in exchange of fire between two rival groups in front of a restaurant at Gulshan-1 in the capital on Sunday.
After the incident, police went to the spot and arrested two persons.
The incident took place at Gloria Jean’s Coffee premises around 4:00pm.
Abdul Ahad, Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division of DMP confirmed the matter to the media, saying that two rival sides fired at each other at Gloria Jean’s premises of Gulshan 1 in the capital marking the financial dealings.
Two persons received bullet injuries when an armed man opened fire in a bid to take away one of his acquaintances who tried to leave the place
without paying Tk 75,000 after sending the amount from a mobile financial service provider, he said.
“We detained two persons from the spot after being informed about the incident. They are now in police custody. The legality of their firearms, names and addresses are now being examined,” he said.
Identities of the injured persons were not confirmed immediately but witnesses said that one was a driver and another was a rickshaw-van puller.
‘We are still investigating the matter to get a clear picture, the police officials added.
Saiful Islam, Senior Vice-Chairman of Navana Group who owns Gloria Jean’s, said, “The clash started at DCC Market. However, they ended up running into our coffee shop.”
