4,585 students move from fail to pass
A total of 4,585 students who initially failed the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations have now passed after their answer scripts were re-scrutinised, while another 3,079 students have newly secured GPA-5, according to the re-scrutiny results published on Thursday.
The results of the re-scrutiny and re-evaluation were published at 10am today on the websites of the country’s 11 education boards. Applicants were also informed of their results through SMS sent to the mobile numbers provided during application.
Students can also check their revised results through the designated website, rescrutiny.eduboardresults.gov.bd.
The original SSC and equivalent examination results were published on August 10, meaning the re-scrutiny results were released 31 days later.
Applications for re-scrutiny closed on August 17, and the revised results were published 24 days after the deadline.
A record number of students applied for re-scrutiny this year. Across the 11 education boards, 4,02,051 candidates submitted applications.
As a student could apply to have multiple subjects re-scrutinised, the total number of answer-script applications was considerably higher than the number of applicants.
In total, applications were submitted for 10,56,455 written examination scripts and 2,31,471 practical examination scripts, bringing the combined number of applications to 12,87,926.
Answer scripts re-evaluated
For the first time, the education boards not only re-scrutinised the answer scripts but also re-evaluated them, according to Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board.
Under the previous system, re-scrutiny mainly involved checking whether there were errors in adding marks to an answer script. The scripts were not fully re-evaluated.
This year, however, the answer scripts for which re-scrutiny was requested were evaluated again, according to the Dhaka Education Board chairman.
Dhaka receives most applications
Dhaka Education Board received the highest number of re-scrutiny applications this year.
A total of 94,236 candidates from the board applied for re-scrutiny of 2,77,665 written examination scripts and 58,012 practical examination scripts.
More than 35,000 candidates applied in the Cumilla board, over 39,000 in Rajshahi, more than 28,000 in Jashore, over 39,000 in Chattogram, more than 17,000 in Barishal, over 20,000 in Sylhet, more than 37,000 in Dinajpur and 27,676 in Mymensingh.
More than 40,000 candidates from the Madrasa Education Board and over 20,000 from the Technical Education Board also applied for re-scrutiny.
Pass rate was lowest in 19 years
The average pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations was 62.25 percent, the lowest in 19 years.
Many students who were dissatisfied with their original results applied for re-scrutiny within the stipulated period. The revised results were published today following the record number of applications.
