‘Bribes in country now transacted in dollar’

The High Court on Tuesday observed that now bribery are now transacted in dollars.
The High Court bench of Justice K M Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the observation while holding hearing on a case filed in connection with the employment of one person in the name of another in the Department of Prisons.
At one stage of the hearing, state counsel Deputy Attorney General Barrister Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar said,
“It is seen in the media that money is exchanged in sacks.” Then the High Court said, “No longer in sacks, briberies are done in dollars now.”
At that time, the High Court also raised the question over the role of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against corruption.
