Bhuapur Children Park needs reform

Bhuapur (Tangil) Correspondent :
The only children’s park named as Asaduzzaman Khan Park of Bhuapur in Tangail district has been in a dilapidated condition for a long time. The locals alleged to this reporter that occupying the Asaduzzaman Khan Park for several years, the construction of a multi-stored building of the Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association is going on. In addition that, the neighboring Asaduzzaman Khan Hafezia Madrasa and the some other influential locals are using this park to pile up bricks, stones, rods, stones and sand for their building construction.
As consequence, for want of recreational facilities, the physical and mental development of children and adolescents is being severely disrupted leaving a deep physiological scar in their mind.
After visiting on ground, it was noticed that all the materials used for construction including soil, sand, stones, irons, etc. have been kept inside the park. Due to which children of this locality cannot play there and for not using for a long period of time, several rides in the park are damaging due to rust. From municipality sources it is known that the only children’s park in Bhuapur named Asaduzzaman Khan was established at the personal land of Principal Ibrahim Khan. There are Government College, Madrasa, Government High School and some coaching centers and kindergartens next to the Park.
As there is no amusement center or park for children in Bhuapur, Asaduzzaman Shishu Park is their main medium of recreation for the children. However, in the name of establishing multi-storied building, the teachers’ association has been occupying the park for years by placing various construction materials.
Locals said that, a few years ago, the municipality repaired the various rides, including the renovation of the park. But lack of proper monitoring and maintenance the only park of the upazila is being occupied and used to accomplish personal interest. Local children said that we have no place for recreation. Earlier we used to play in the park but recently the park has been occupied by sand, gravel, bricks and irons. Due to lack of space, we are compelled to play various games on mobile or computer for entertainment.
In this regard, parents of children said that there is no amusement park for children in Bhuapur. Although the park might play a blissful role for the mental development of children, it has lost its significance for lack of proper maintenance and monitoring by concerned authority.
Various construction materials are kept inside the park. For several years, teachers’ associations have been building their multi-stored buildings by keeping construction materials in the park hindering children’s entertainment.
Mohiuddin, the president of Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association, said, “We only have sand, other construction goods are from others.”
Masudul Haque, Mayor of Bhuapur municipality said that the park was previously repaired from the budget of municipality. I heard that the park has been encroached by placing construction materials. To solve this problem a project is being developed to modernize the park. The engineer has been asked to send the project to the concerned authorities at the earliest.a
