No decision yet to administer 4th dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Even on the eve of deadly coronavirus upward trend, the government hasn’t taken any decision about inoculating Covid-19 vaccine to those who have already taken booster doses.
The senior citizens who have already administered third doses of coronavirus vaccines are fearing from transmitting the virus again as the action of the vaccine remain active six month only.
Professor Dr Mohammad Robed Amin, line director of the Non Communicable Disease Control (NCDC) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, “we haven’t completed inoculation of third doses properly. Comparing the other countries we have remained behind in administering the Covid-19 vaccine.”
He said the government is thinking to vaccinate the people as early as possible. Freshly Covid-19 infection will hit hardly as the new variant spreads quickly.
Professor Dr Mohammad Robed Amin said those who have taken third booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine are safe rather for the first and the second doses receiver.
When asked is there any decision for the senior citizens who have already taken third doses of Covid-19 vaccine, Professor Dr Mohammad Robed Amin said, “there is no decision yet for third doses vaccinated citizens.”
He advised that everybody including senior citizens should have followed the health guidelines issued by the DGHS.
Recently in a University Grants Commission (UGC) seminar Dr ABM Abdullah, Medicine specialist has said that Coronavirus new variant transmitted quickly. Professor Emeritus further said there is no alternative to wearing face mask to tackle the novel coronavirus fourth waves.
Dr ABM Abdullah said imposing restriction or lock down may not be essential this time to repeal spreading of coronavirus. But he emphasized to wear mask to keep people safe from deadly Covid-19.
Experts said two Omicron sub-variants–BA.4 and BA.5–are probably fuelling the fresh spike in Covid infections like in some other countries in the world, and warned that coming weeks could see exponential growth in daily Covid-19 cases as the community transmission may begin soon.
The public health experts, however, think the new wave is unlikely to be as virulent as the previous ones since a very large number of people have some sort of antibodies gained either by infection or vaccination.
They emphasised strict maintenance of Covid-19 protocols, including the cent per cent use of masks and ramping up of vaccination to bring the most elderly persons under the coverage of the booster dose of the Covid vaccines to slow down the infection.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Wednesday reported no Covid-19 death while it recorded 2,2 41 coronavirus positive cases during the period.
“Bangladesh reported that 15.23 percent Covid-19 positive cases after 14,712 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Bangladesh logged more than 15 percent coronavirus cases for five straight days since June 25,” DGHS sources said.
During the past 24 hours, the combined figure of coronavirus infection in Dhaka city and upazilas of the district is 1,814 while no Covid-19 death was reported during the period.
According to DGHS, the official tally showed that the virus killed 29,145 people and infected 19,71,602 so far.
Among the 29,145 fatalities, 12,811 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,865 in Chattogram, 2,142 in Rajshahi, 3,718 in Khulna, 983 in Barishal, 1,329 in Sylhet, 1,417 in Rangpur and 880 in Mymensingh divisions.
