AL leader , activist sent to jail for snatching accused in Mehendiganj

Mehendiganj police on Monday arrested Mawlana Jasimuddin, a union AL president and Firoj Bepari, AL activist, for snatching Sabuj Bepari alias Pichchi Sabuj, a wanted criminal. A police officer was injured and the camera of a local journalist was snatched by the AL men during the incident on Sunday noon. Ujjal Kumar Dey, Mehendiganj police station officer-in-charge, said assaulted police officer sub-inspector Habibur Rahman lodged a case in this connection on Sunday night against the attacker AL leader and cadres after the incident. Then police operating nightlong drives at different areas of Mehendiganj upazila succeeded to arrest union AL Mawlana Jasim and Firoj Bepari, brother of the snatched Pichchi Sabuj, on Monday early morning, but failed to re-arrest snatched Pichchi Sabuj. They were sent to Barisal on Monday noon and placed before the judicial magistrate court.
