ACC seeks appointment from Asif’s tenure
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought documents on the appointment, promotion and transfer of officials and employees under the Youth and Sports Ministry during the tenure of former adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan.
ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Tanzir Ahmed of its Public Relations Department confirmed the matter to journalists on Thursday, 3 September.
The commission sent a letter to the ministry secretary seeking the records as part of an inquiry into allegations of corruption and irregularities. The requested documents must be submitted by September 10.
The letter, signed by ACC Deputy Director and inquiry team chief Mohammad Zahid Kalam, said a four-member special team had been formed to conduct an impartial inquiry and submit a report.
The ACC sought all records related to appointments, promotions and transfers made during Asif Mahmud’s tenure. It also requested certified copies of transfer-related documents issued under two Ministry of Public Administration memoranda dated 7 May, 2025, and April 18, 2026.
The commission also sought documents concerning the assignment, cancellation of assignments and postings of 38 Upazila Youth Development Officers.
In addition, it requested certified copies of the personal files of several Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officers working in the field, particularly in Dhaka, Bogura, Barishal, Pabna, Dhamrai and Narsingdi.
The ACC also asked the ministry to provide relevant rules, regulations and supporting documents along with the requested records.
According to ACC sources, the commission is investigating allegations against Asif Mahmud, Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Alam and other officials of providing undue benefits and retaining officials through corruption and irregularities.
