4 convicted to death in Parveen murder at Ctg

A court of Chattogram has sentenced four accused to death in a murder case in Raufabad area under Bayazid Bostami police station in the city. Besides, each of them has been fined Tk 30,000 and given another 6 months imprisonment for non-payment of fines. Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shariful Alam Bhunya handed down the sentence at noon on Wednesday (March 3).
The four convicts are Mohammad Yasin, 26, son of late Nurul Islam from Sadek Nagar Union No. 19 of Fatikchhari, Mansur, 25, son of Mohammad Musa from East Mekhal village of Hathazari and Mohammad Tayyab alias Rana, 24, son of Mohammad Yusuf of the same area and Md. Ishaq, son of Ahmad Shafar of Syedur Rahman Except Mohammad Yasin, three other accused are absconding.
According to court sources, Parveen Akhter was killed on March 3, 2016 at around 9:30 pm in the flat number 111 on the 3rd floor of the women’s building of Raufabad Bangladesh Co-operative Housing Society. Parveen’s husband Nurul Alam filed a case with Bayezid police station.
The witness of 15 people was taken in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court. The charge of the case was framed on March 5, 2016.
Lawyer Mohammad Noman Chowdhury told media that the court had sentenced four people to death in the Parveen Akhter murder case.
