ICT-1 defers Charge framing hearing against 3 ‘Razakars’ again
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Sunday again deferred the charge framing hearing against three alleged Razakar kingpins from Bagerhat, Abdul Latif Talukder, Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master and Khan Akram Hossain.
The ICT-1 set October 20 as the next date for holding hearing into matter, accepting a plea of Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, counsel for Latif and Akram.
Sarwar, who took time for taking preparation on the earlier occasion too, on Sunday submitted a time plea through his junior Gazi MH Tamim.
“This is a halfhearted plea. As if you do not need the time that much and will take part in hearing if we reject your plea. It is a frustrating behavior from your part,” said Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the two-member panel of ICT-1.
Advocate Tamim however, put the blame on the shoulder of his senior saying, he is just submitting the plea on the order of Sarwar.
“You are a lawyer by yourself. You should be prepared while appearing before the tribunal,” the tribunal further added.
The charge framing hearing against these three had started on September 30, and prosecutor Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon on that day pleaded for framing charges of crimes against humanity against the trio.
On the other hand, advocate Mohammad Abul Hasan, state-appointed defence counsel for Siraj Master, too took part in the hearing on that day, opposing the prosecution submission and pleaded for setting his client free.
Siraj Master, 72, Khan Akram Hossain, 61, and Abdul Latif Talukder, 68, three alleged partners in 1971 crimes were recently detained after issuing of warrant to arrest them on June 10 by the ICT-1.
