Stock market performs robust to go to Eid vacation

Stock market performed robust on Thursday at the last trading session before Eid-ul Azha, taking the benchmark price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) to a new peak of 5237.72.
Optimism from the buyers-end sustained for the third consecutive sessions with 251 issues advancing when only 42 incurred loss and eight remained unchanged.
The selective blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES followed the high tide to close at 1993.16 and 1219.24 respectively.
But, the 84.45 points or 1.63 percent surge in the general index was the prime vibe of the market, which pushed the daily transaction to 24.14 crore shares worth Taka 937.02 crore.
Most of the issues showed steady rise on the day as 146, out of the traded 301 issues posted over 3.0 percent rise when only five scrips closed with more than 3.0 percent loss.
Titas Gas was the most liquid issue at the concluding trading session of the week, making fuel and power the most active sector. The other major turnover leaders were Delta Life, Squire Pharma, Family Tex and Grameen Phone.
Banking and textile also performed better as the two sectors along with fuel and power capturing 40.0 percent of the day’s total trade. Engineering and NBFI also gained by 2.6 percent and 2.1 percent respectively.
