Niloy murder probe report submission date deferred
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday deferred the date for submission of the investigation report in the case filed over the murder of blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy to October 6.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim set the new date on Sunday as
Bahauddin Faruqui, Detection Branch (DB) Inspector, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case could not submit the report in the court yesterday.
Earlier, the Investigation Officer took time on several scheduled dates to submit the report in the case.
On August 7, 2015, blogger Niloy was hacked to death by a group of assailants at his rented flat on the 4th floor of a multi-storey building at Goran in the city.
Later, on the same day, victim’s wife Ashamoni filed the murder case with Khilgaon Police Station against four miscreants. Of the accused, Masum Rana and Tariqul Islam secured bail in the case, while accused Maulana Mufti Abdul Gafffar, Mortuza Faisal Sabbir, Kawser Hossain Sarder and Saad Al Nahid are behind the bar.
