At least four persons were killed and five others injured when an under-construction gate of M Mansur Ali College collapsed at Gulta Bazar in Sirajganj’s Tarash Upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Tojam, 65, son of one late Jaher Ullah from Gaborgari village, Rashidul Islam, 26, son of one Sultan Islam from Bostul village of the Tarash upazila, Asif, 14, son of one Sahadat Hossain from Nishchintapur village of Singra upazila and Khadem Ali, 50, of Shahjadpur Upazila.
The injured are Babu, 23, son of one Shahinur of Talom village and Shafiqul Islam, 31, of Lauson village.
Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarash Police Station, confirmed the news to the media and said that a weekly cattle market was arranged in the field of M Mansur Ali College and that time victims were roaming over there when the incident occurred.
Five injured are being taken to Sirajganj Medical College Hospital for treatment, OC added.
