Black money holders rule Govt: Dr Kamal

Eminent jurist and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya Convener Dr Kamal said, as per Article 7 of the Constitution the real owner of the country is its people. But it is a matter of sorrow that even after 47 year of independence it has not been established.
He said, even though people are the owners, they are deprived of the basic rights, as the black money holders rule the government. We fought against Pakistan to free ourselves from exploitation, but the goal has not been achieved.
Dr. Kamal made these remarks at a discussion programme titled “The necessity of non-partisan government during the election,” held at the Institute of Engineer of Bangladesh in Dhaka.
The discussion was organized by Jatiya Oikya Prokriya.
Dr. Kamal said, discussion is the real beauty of the democracy.
Opponent view will remain, but there will be scope for discussion. All kinds of views are to be respected in democracy.
“There is no ethics in Bangladesh politics. We fought for a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh. But corrupt politicians have damaged our dream. Our all expectations have been washed away.”
He questioned why did we fail to have a democratic government? It is because politics are controlled by the black money. The proportions of politicians are few.
Dr. Kamal said, the present Parliament does not serve the people’s interest, because the MPs were mostly elected unopposed. They are eager to expand their businesses.
Govt urged to take peaceful

Speaking at the discussion, Barrister Mainul Hosein has referred it every body’s anxiety that there will be terrible violence and killing for not holding free election. Some ministers also talked about similar dangers.
He said we are offering a peaceful way out. Those who are supporting the unity for free election under a neutral government are talking of a sensible solution. Have sanity and take it. We have persuaded Dr. Kamal Hossain and he agreed, despite his old age and ill health, to give leadership for free election.
Barrister Mainul is worried at the prospect of blood bath and urged the government to take the peaceful way out to avoid consequences of violence.
He explained that he feels angry because he does not have the dignity of a free citizen of a free country.
He said, we know how to weep and die but not know how to protect our rights. The election thieves are proven thieves. They have stolen the government for looting public wealth. Yet, we are helpless.
“We are not for weeping and dying to prove that we are not fit to enjoy liberty,” he pointed out.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President A.S.M Abdur Rab said, people of Bangladesh feel insecure everywhere across the country. There is no security, and you do not know whether after this meeting you will reach home safely or not.
Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury, the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, said, court inside the jail compound does not make any good sense. There is possibility to influence the jurisdiction.
Among others, SCBA President Advocate Zainul Abedin, Mostafa Mohsin Montu, former DUCSU VP Sultan Mohammad Mansur, former FBCCI President Abdul Awal Mintoo, SCBA Secretary Barrister KM Mahbubuddin Khokon, DU Professor C R Abrar, DU Professor Nurul Amin Bapari, Senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah, Gono Forum leader Advocate Subrata Chowdhury spoke at the programme.
