Nat’l moon sighting committee meeting today

The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet today to review reports of the sighting of the moon marking the beginning of Rabius Sani in Hijri 1448 and decide the start of the holy month.

The meeting will be held at 6:45pm, after Maghrib prayers, at the Baitul Mukarram meeting room of the Islamic Foundation.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) will chair the meeting, according to a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation’s Public Relations Division on Friday.

The committee will examine reports received from different parts of the country regarding the sighting of the Rabius Sani moon before taking a decision.

The meeting is part of the country’s official process for determining the beginning of the Hijri month based on moon-sighting reports.
