Restaurant owner, mother hurt in city attack

UNB, Dhaka :A restaurant owner and his mother were injured as a local youth allegedly attacked them over the payment of bill in the city’s Hazaribagh area on Sunday.The injured are Sajal, 18and his mother Parvin Akhter Shanti, 38. The alleged attacker known as Masum alias Bhula Masum, 23, was also injured in the incident.Police and sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Sajal and his elder brother Sujon, 22, have been running a restaurant, ‘Sajal Hotel’, at Taju Company Market at Boubazar of Sonatali Road.Sujon had an altercation with Masum as he reportedly refused to pay the bill for the breakfast he had at the restaurant. At one stage, Masum swooped on Sajal with a sharp weapon. As Sujal’s mother Parvin came in the rescue of her son, the youth also attacked him.Later, Sujon and his family members beat Masum, said sub-inspector Rabiul of Hazaribagh Police Station.Sujon and Parvin were taken to the DMCH while Masum was admitted to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, said the police officer.
