Zaima gets Khaleda’s award from President

Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was honoured posthumously with the ‘Best Indomitable Woman’ award for her contributions to women’s education and the advancement of democracy.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin handed over the award to Barrister Zaima Rahman, the only daughter of Prime Minister and ruling BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday.
Barrister Zaima Rahman received the award, on behalf of Khaleda Zia. The recognition celebrates Khaleda Zia’s unwavering leadership in restoring democracy through persistent struggle and her remarkable contribution to strengthening democratic values.
As in previous years, women were recognised in different categories for their notable achievements and contributions. Khaleda Zia was awarded for advancing democracy, Nurun Nahar Akter for accomplishments in the economic sector, Bobita Khatun for excellence in education and career, Nurbanu Kabir for exemplary motherhood, Mosammat Shamla Begum for overcoming adversity, and Afroza Yasmin for outstanding contributions to social development.
Dr Zubaida Rahman, spouse of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, lauded Khaleda Zia’s resilience, stating, “Despite numerous challenges, Begum Khaleda Zia remained steadfast and indomitable.”
Organised by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the awards aim to promote female participation and leadership in social, economic, and political spheres, highlighting the achievements and struggles of women across the country.
