Bollywood actress Esha Gupta, who was stranded in the United Arab Emirates as uncertainty and anxiety spread across the Gulf region due to US-Iran tensions, has finally returned safely to India after hours of anxiety, confusion and panic.
In a post on social media, Esha said that the situation was very difficult and very scary.
She wrote, “I have returned home. Thank you for everyone’s prayers and well wishes. The situation we were in was very difficult. By the grace of God, we were able to return safely.”
Esha said that she reached the airport on Sunday afternoon. The airport was suddenly closed at around 1:00pm. No one could understand what had happened. After a while, the situation became more worrying when the news of the missile attack spread.
“No one knew what would happen in the next moment. Strangers were comforting each other, everyone was trying to contact their families in their own country,” the actress wrote.
At that time, Esha was at Abu Dhabi International Airport. According to Esha, the airport staff quickly came forward to control the situation and behaved calmly and responsibly throughout.
The actress praised their professionalism. Esha had not yet checked in. As the airport was closed, she returned from there and took shelter in a hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Later, she heard from other passengers there about similar experiences of panic and confusion.
After a few hours of uncertainty, Esha Gupta returned home when the situation normalised.
According to her, the experience was terrifying, but at the same time she saw a unique example of human compassion and solidarity.
The actress expressed her gratitude, mentioning the responsible role of the authorities and standing by strangers during the crisis.
