Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars: Bangladesh ‘A’ storm into final

Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team stormed into the final of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars defeating Pakistan ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team by 54 runs in the second semi-final at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Friday.

Fahima Khatun played the key role for Bangladesh women’s victory after showing an all-round performance.
Fahima Khatun remained unbeaten with 40 runs. Her 32-ball captain’s knock was ornamented with five fours.
She grabbed two wickets in the space of six runs. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her match-winning performance.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a satisfactory score of 110 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then shot out Pakistan 56 off 16.4 overs.
Bangladesh had a modest start with two openers Ishma Tanjim and Shamima Sultana added 19 runs before Shamima Sultana was dismissed by Waheeda Akhtar.
Shamima Sultana hit run-a-ball 13 with two fours.
After Shamima’s dismissal, Ishma Tanjim and Sarmin Sultana contributed 20 runs for the second wicket partnership before Ishma Tanjim was trapped leg before wicket by Anosha Nasir when Bangladesh’s total was 39 for the loss of two wickets.
Ishma Tanjim scored 12 from 23 deliveries with one four.
After Tanjim’s departure, Sarmin Sultana was dismissed by Omaima Sohail when Bangladesh’s score was 44 for the loss of three wickets.
Sarmin Sultana made 15 from 20 deliveries featuring two fours.
After Sarmin’s dismissal, Fahima Khatun and Lata Mondol built the most notable partnership scoring together 31 runs in the four-wicket stand before Lata Mondol (5) was dismissed by Hafsa Khalid when Bangladesh’s total was 75 for the loss of four wickets.
After Lata Mondol’s departure, Bangladeshi batters failed to make any remarkable partnership.
Hafsa Khalid bagged two wickets instead of 25 runs, while Omaima Sohel, Waheeda Akhtar, Momina Riasat and Anosha Nasir got one wicket each conceding 14, 20, 20 and 21 runs respectively.
Later, Bangladeshi bowlers totally dominated Pakistani batters with their superb, tight and controlled bowling attack. Pakistan lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Sanjida Akter Meghla captured three wickets in the space of six runs.
Farjana Easmin, Fatema Jahan Sonia and Fariha Trisna took one wicket each for six, 11 and 14 runs respectively. Shawaal Zulfiqar, Hafsa Khalid and Yusra Amir could reach the double digit figures.
Shawaal Zulfiqar made 14 from 17 deliveries including one six.
Hafsa Khalid and Yusra Amir added 12 and 11 runs respectively to the Pakistan total.
