Tarique has applied for travel pass to return home

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has applied for a travel pass in preparation for his return to Bangladesh on 25 December.

A diplomat at the Bangladesh High Commission in London confirmed that the application has been submitted.

Sources in London said Tarique Rahman completed the necessary travel pass forms and sent them to the Bangladesh High Commission in the United Kingdom through a representative.”

Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will receive an unprecedented welcome upon his return to Dhaka at 11:55am on December 25.

He said Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight from London.

Salahuddin said the party aims to organise a reception that will eclipse
all gatherings witnessed over the past 55 years and remain memorable for the next 55 years, marking Tarique Rahman’s long-awaited homecoming.

Speaking to reporters in front of the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office after visiting the airport with members of the reception committee, Salahuddin said people from across the country are keen to see Tarique Rahman, and the party is taking steps to ensure the event causes no disruption to public life.

He said the committee reviewed security measures and logistical preparations at the airport ahead of the BNP acting chairman’s arrival.

Salahuddin also said suitable venues near the airport and Evercare Hospital are being considered for organising the reception programme.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said Tarique Rahman’s return is expected to draw an enormous crowd, adding that party leaders and activists are working round the clock to make the event historic and unforgettable.
