Overcoming all the odds, the whole nation is seeking a peaceful and competitive national Parliament election atmosphere following BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return, experts said.
Following the killing incident of prominent July Warrior and Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman Hadi, a day after announcing the schedule of 13th National election the countrymen become upset over holding the national polls.
Osman Hadi also was a aspirant candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency and was murdered while completing his public relation campaigning over the polls. Experts thought that a neighboring country and the fallen fascist Hasina regimes cohorts are behind the anarchies to disrupt the election environment of Bangladesh.
As such, the people become worried over franchising their votes in the election in peaceful manner.
Besides, the tensions between the main two political parties the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami were also found over competitions in the upcoming election.
Amidst these, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned home from long 17 years of exile in the United Kingdom, on Thursday.
After returning, Tarique Rahman voices for national unity over everything, which created hope among the countrymen.
In the same time, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also extended greetings to Tarique Rahman on his return through social media handle facebook on Thursday.
Apart from these, Dr. Shafique also calls for a new Bangladesh through strong national unity.
In a recent programme of the party in the capital, Jamaat Ameer said, the new Bangladesh will be built on the basis of unity, not division.
He said that one of their friendly organisations has said that if they are elected, they will form a government by including everyone, but will exclude certain parties. However, we are giving them good news: if we are elected, Jamaat-e-Islami will form a government including you as well as all anti-fascist parties. In that case, a commitment must be made before the nation that ‘no one will engage in corruption after going into government, no one will stand in the way of establishing justice, and the reform proposals for building a new Bangladesh will be implemented.’
He said that the Bangladesh of the future will be a Bangladesh capable of competing with the civilised nations of the world.”
Political analysts said, as one of the neighboring country involved to create anarchies to foil the upcoming long awaited national election, the political parties have an important duty to create strong national unity.
When contacted, eminent political analyst Professor Mahbub Ullah told The New Nation on Friday, “The fallen fascist power, their cohorts and a neighboring country are continuously trying to create anarchies to thwart the upcoming election.”
“In these circumstances, the political leaders including BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have a great role to build national unity keeping all parties together,” the professor said.
He said the people of the nation are concretely united. Two of the national events recently proved that, he said.
“You seen, the massive Namaj-e-Janaja of Martyred Hadi was participating by thousands of people. But it was totally peaceful. The Huge gathering of Tarique Rahman’s welcome event also was peaceful. These two events proved that the people of the nation is totally united,” the professor said.
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday voiced optimism that Bangladesh would emerge as a genuinely democratic nation under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
“Under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, the country will advance along the path of democracy, and the people will reclaim their democratic rights. His grand return yesterday (Thursday) symbolises that aspiration,” he said.
Fakhrul made the comments while speaking to reporters at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar ahead of paying homage at the grave of BNP founder and martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
He added that Tarique Rahman had received an overwhelming public welcome, describing his homecoming as carrying a powerful message of change.
