Janmastami celebration passes off 2nd day

The members of the Hindu Community brought out a grand jubilant procession in the second day on the occasion of four-day long Janmastami function the holy birth anniversary of the Lord Sri Krishna in the port city and different parts of the district with due religious fervor yesterday.
Lord Krishna was born on the eighth tithi of Shukla Paksha (fortnight of the new moon) in Bangla month of Bhadra and he takes birth in ages in the world to safeguard the good and pious people from the hands of bad-naughty persons to establish truth, justice and beauty in society.
On the occasion, colorful Janmashtami processions displaying the events of the life of Krishna have been brought out in the capital and elsewhere of the country.
Other programs of the day include – fasting, offering puja, special prayers and Geeta Jajna, discussion meetings, cultural functions and distribution of ‘maha prasad’ and feeding the poor.
Different socio-cultural and religious organizations have chalked out elaborate programs to celebrate the Janmashtami.
The grand jubilant procession was brought out from J M Sen hall premises, the main venue of the festival at 10 am on Saturday through the participations of thousands of devotees.
