24 students, teacher injured as picnic bus overturns

At least 24 students and a lady teacher of Navy School and College, Chittagong were injured when a picnic bus carrying them overturned at Kaptai Upazila in Rangamati on Saturday morning.
The accident took place around 11:15am at the Upazila’s Chitmorom on Chittagong-Kaptai highway, said Belal Hossain, OC at the Kaptai Police Station.
Condition of one of the injured is critical. He has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
Sixteen others have been admitted to Navy Hospital.
Besides, the injured teacher Bichitra Sen received serious injuries in the head and face. She was undergoing operation at Christian Missionary Hospital in Kaptai where seven other severely injured students were also got admitted.
The students of Navy School and College were going to Kaptai from Chittagong on a picnic by 12 buses. One of the buses with 52 picnickers onboard overturned as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
