Liza draws 5th round in Cans Winter Chess Festival

National woman champion WIM Shamima Akter Liza split points with Christo Dimitrov (Rating- 2305) of France in the 5th round of the Open-A Group of 28th Cans Winter Chess Festival now being held in Cannes, France.
After the 5th round game, held on Wednesday last, Liza secured 2.5 points.

Pabna emerge zonal champions in Inter District Volleyball

Pabna district emerged zonal champions in the Walton Inter District Volleyball beating Rajshahi district by 3-1 sets in the final held on Thursday at the Naogaon District Stadium.
With the day’s win, Pabna have qualified for the final round that will be held in later stage.

School Volleyball meet begins today
BSS, Dhaka
The Orient Bread School Volleyball (boy’s and girl’s) begins today at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur.
Managing Director of Orient Food Company Limited Mahbub Uz Zaman is expected to inaugurate the four-day meet as the chief guest at 11 am.
A total of 31 metropolis schools — 18 of boy’s division and 13 of girl’s division — are taking part in the meet, sponsored by Orient Bread.
In this regards, a press conference was held on Thursday at the conference room of National Sports Council to give all the details of the meet.
Chairman of Tournament Committee and Managing Director of Orient Food Company Ltd Mahbub Uz Zaman, Joint Secretaries of Volleyball Federation Advocate Fazle Rabbi Babul and Azizur Rahman were present, among others, at the press conference.
