President heads to UK for medical care

President Mohammed Shahabuddin is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom today for follow-up medical treatment and routine health check-ups.

According to his Press Secretary Sarwar Alam, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight will depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the morning for London carrying the President.

He will be accompanied by family members, personal physicians, staff nurses, and officials from Bangabhaban.

The President previously underwent cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore in October 2023. Doctors have advised further post-operative examinations, which will be conducted at a specialised hospital in the UK.

He is expected to return to the country on May 18.
