Paris Jackson in court seeking share of father’s estate

Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson has filed a lawsuit against her father’s estate for $600 million for their family trust, alleging that the estate has made a lot of money through various business deals, but their trust has not been paid in the past 17 years.

In a filing in a Los Angeles court on October 29, Paris said the estate has generated billions of dollars since her father’s death in 2009, but the trust created to protect her and her two brothers’ future remains empty.

This family trust was set up for Michael’s three children – Prince, Paris and Biggie. According to the rules, the children are supposed to receive their share of the income when they turn 21.

In addition, they are supposed to receive a certain portion of the principal amount at the ages of 30, 35 and 40. But Paris claims that her father’s wish has not been implemented to this day.

Even though her elder brother Prince is approaching 30 and Paris and Biggie are also 29 and 25 respectively, they are deprived of this fund.

As a result, they are forced to rely on their sole executor, John Branca, who decides when and how much they will receive.

Lawyers of Paris said the estate has made a fortune in the past few years through several major deals.

These include the sale of shares in EMI Music for $287.5 million in 2018, the sale of Neverland Ranch for $22 million in 2020, and a deal with Sony to sell Michael’s song rights in 2023.

The estate has generated more than $1 billion in cash from these deals, excluding taxes and related expenses. The estate is currently worth between $2 billion and $3 billion.
