Robi posts 20pc profit growth in Jan-Sept

Robi Axiata PLC posted a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in profit to Tk 747cr in January-September 2026, supported by higher revenue and improved operating efficiency.

The country’s second-largest mobile operator’s revenue rose 7 per cent to Tk 7930cr during the nine-month period, according to its latest business update released on Wednesday.

Its earnings per share stood at Tk 1.43 for the first nine months of the year, compared with Tk 1.19 in the same period a year earlier, reflecting the growth in profitability. Robi also reported a profit after tax of Tk 251cr in the July-September quarter, while quarterly revenue grew 7 per cent year-on-year to Tk 2687cr.

Robi’s active subscriber base reached 59.2 million at the end of September, including 46.8 million internet users and 42.8 million 4G subscribers.

About 72 per cent of its active subscribers were using 4G services, highlighting the growing adoption of mobile internet in Bangladesh.

The company continued investing in network infrastructure, spending Tk 141cr on capital expenditure during the first nine months of the year.

Commenting on the performance, Robi Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ziad Shatara said the third-quarter results reflected the resilience of the company’s business fundamentals and the growing importance of digital connectivity in people’s daily lives.

The fact that 72 per cent of Robi’s active customers were 4G users demonstrated Bangladesh’s continuing digital transformation and the company’s role in enabling that change, he said.

Shatara added that Robi would continue investing in network quality, improving customer experience and introducing innovative digital services.

He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to disciplined investment, operational excellence and innovation to support the country’s digital ambitions while creating sustainable value for customers, shareholders and other stakeholders.
