Ctg main roads to be renovated in six months
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has directed engineering officials to take the necessary steps to renovate most of the city’s main roads within the next six months.
He gave the directives at a review meeting with the Chief Engineer and executive engineers of the CCC Engineering Department at the corporation’s office in Tiger Pass area of the port city on Monday.
He also emphasised identifying existing engineering problems in the city and resolving them promptly, improving the drainage system to address waterlogging, and accelerating ongoing development activities.
The meeting discussed various development activities, including road renovation, drainage system improvements, foot overbridge construction, engineering support for cleaning operations, and tree plantation and beautification of road medians.
At the meeting, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said winter was a crucial period for advancing road and infrastructure development. As weather and environmental conditions are relatively favourable during this time, various engineering projects, including road renovations, can be completed more quickly and systematically.
He instructed officials to make the most of this opportunity and take the necessary initiatives to renovate most of the city’s main roads within the next six months.
The mayor also stressed prioritising road renovation to ensure smoother daily commutes and reduce public suffering.
He said that, alongside renovating major roads, officials must ensure road usability and safety.
He further directed officials to accelerate the ongoing construction of foot overbridges to improve the safety of city residents and pedestrians. He urged the engineers concerned to ensure the timely progress of construction work and play an effective role in implementing the projects.
CCC Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman and other executive engineers of the Engineering Department were present at the meeting.
