Metro rail Stations to get archway detectors, luggage scanners

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided to install archway metal detectors and luggage scanners at metro rail stations to strengthen security and protect passengers, with an online tender invited on October 19 for the equipment.

The proposed equipment includes archway metal detectors and luggage scanners to screen passengers and their belongings, an official familiar with the process said.

“We will also procure archway metal detectors and luggage scanners to screen passengers and luggage and prevent any untoward incident,” the official said.

According to a notification, DMTCL General Manager (Store and Procurement) Mohammad Asaduzzaman invited an online tender on October 19 for the procurement of the equipment for the metro rail security system.

Eligible firms have been asked to submit electronic tenders through the National e-Government Procurement (e-GP) Portal at www.eprocure.gov.bd, the notification said.

Further information and tender guidelines are available through the national e-GP portal. Interested firms can also contact the e-GP help desk at helpdesk@eprocure.gov.bd for assistance, according to the notice.

The tender notice also included an annual maintenance contract (AMC) for several systems installed at the MRT Line-6 depot under the electrical department.

The maintenance contract covers the low-voltage (LV) system, diesel generator (DG) set, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), ventilation system and general electrical works.

Tender documents will be available for purchase from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on November 11, 2026.
DMTCL is responsible for operating and maintaining Dhaka’s metro rail system.

The planned procurement of screening equipment is intended to strengthen security at stations, while the separate maintenance contract seeks to cover key electrical and ventilation systems at the MRT Line-6 depot.
