Three tourists died and two others remain missing after a group was swept away by strong currents while bathing in the sea at Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near the museum adjacent to Marina Resort in Himchari on October 21.
One tourist was rescued alive and taken to hospital, while the bodies of three others were recovered.
Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident.

He said a group of tourists had entered the sea to bathe when they were swept away by waves and currents.

Local people rescued one of them alive and sent the person to hospital.

Three bodies were subsequently recovered from the scene, the UNO said, adding that two tourists remained missing.

Police were conducting search operations to locate the missing tourists, he added.
The identities of those killed, missing and rescued were not immediately known.

The rescued tourist is receiving treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
