India reach the final after defeating Bangladesh

On one side, India kept scoring goal after goal, while on the other, Bangladesh fought to narrow the gap. Ultimately, the disparity in strength became clearly evident at the Begum Khaleda Zia IHF Nations Trophy on Monmday.

India defeated Bangladesh 43-13 to reach the final. However, despite this heavy defeat, Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the final are not yet over.

On Monday, Bangladesh faced India in their second match at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in Paltan. India took a 24-8 lead by the end of the first half.

Maintaining their attacking momentum after the break, they ultimately secured a victory by a margin of 30 goals. Bhavana played a major role in India’s victory. She scored 13 goals all by herself and won the Player of the Match award.

The Mansur Ali Stadium in Dhaka is not new to her, however; this Indian player has visited Bangladesh before and even played in the league for a local club. After the match, Bhavana said, “This is my third time here.

I have played in the league here twice before, representing a local club. It feels great to be back. The people here are wonderful; they support us.

The accommodation facilities are also excellent.” Having defeated Bangladesh by a large margin, Bhavana is also confident about the final. She remarked, “Our team have great chemistry. We will return from the final with a medal.

India defeated the Maldives in their opening match. With two consecutive wins, they have secured a spot in the final with one match still to play.

India will face Nepal on Tuesday in their final league-stage match. Meanwhile, despite their loss to India, Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the final remain alive.

If they can defeat the Maldives in their final league-stage match on Tuesday, Bangladesh will join India in the final. Consequently, for the hosts, a win in their next match is essential to stay in contention for the title.

Following the defeat against India, Bangladesh’s Spanish Coach, Ana Alonso, highlighted the disparity in preparation and skill between the two teams.

According to her, India have been working hard for the past year. While Bangladesh have also been putting in the effort, there remains a gap in the level of preparation and capability between the two sides.

Ana Alonso says, “The outcome of today’s match is essentially a reflection of the two nations involved.

On one side is India, a team that has been working extremely hard over the past year; on the other is Bangladesh, who have also been working hard, though at a different level. Naturally, there are differences in our physical conditioning and handball skills, which is evident on the court.”
