‘Govt working to ensure security of people of all faiths’

The government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of people of all faiths, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has said.

Durga Puja is not merely a festival of celebration; it also teaches people to stand against injustice and support the oppressed Dr Moyeen Khan said while visiting the Amlepara Sarbojanin Puja Mandap in Narayanganj on Saturday as part of the Durga Puja celebrations.

“Throughout history, there has been a conflict between truth and falsehood, and between justice and injustice. The defeat of the demon by Goddess Durga symbolises the triumph of justice over evil.

Drawing lessons from Durga Puja, everyone must come forward to establish truth and justice in society,” he said.

“We will uphold communal harmony, act on the prime minister’s call and continue working together to build a better country,” he said.

Dr Moyeen Khan later visited the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram in the city’s Missionpara area, where he enquired about the arrangements and the overall environment for the festival.

He also exchanged greetings with worshippers, organisers and local residents.
Highlighting Narayanganj’s longstanding tradition of communal harmony, the minister said people of different faiths in the district were closely connected and celebrated their religious festivals together.
