Joty congratulates new Captain Nahida Akter
Nigar Sultana Joty has stepped down as captain of the Bangladesh women’s T20I team. Nahida Akter is set to take on the leadership of the T20I cricket team.
Joty has shared a congratulatory message for her, stating, “Heartiest congratulations to Nahida, the new Captain of the T20I team.”
The former captain stated that even with a change in leadership, the goal of taking Bangladesh cricket forward will remain the same.
“Best wishes to him in this new role. I believe that, through his capabilities and leadership, he will play a significant part in taking the team forward.
While our roles within the team have changed, our passion for our red-and-green flag remains the same, as does our goal-to further advance Bangladesh cricket,” said Joty.
Joty added, “As a teammate, I stand by Nahida and I will continue to do so. I am always ready to provide whatever support I can for the team’s success.
We have come a long way together, and I look forward to writing many more success stories together while wearing the Bangladesh jersey.”
The Women’s Emerging Nations T20 Trophy, which will see the team led by Nahida and Sobhana, is scheduled to take place from November 10 to 26. A total of 10 teams are participating in the tournament.
Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea are in Group-A, while UAE, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe are in Group-B.
Although the tournament was originally planned to be held in Thailand, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to change the venue due to flood damage in the country. The new venue is expected to be finalized later this week.
