Paris Saint-Germain beat Manchester City 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League (CL) on Wednesday.

Three first-half goals gave the defending champion a commanding lead, while Erling Haaland scored twice for Manchester City after the break.

Desire Doue opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a counterattack with a low shot after being played through by Fabian Ruiz.

PSG struck again two minutes later. Ousmane Dembele broke down the right and found Doue, whose pass across goal allowed Dembele to finish at the far post.

The visitors threatened through Vitinha and Achraf Hakimi, with the latter hitting the post, before extending their lead in the 32nd minute. Maghnes Akliouche found Warren Zaire-Emery, whose backheel set up Vitinha for the third.

City coach Enzo Maresca made three changes at halftime and his side responded after the break. Haaland headed in Iliman Ndiaye’s cross in the 53rd minute, but PSG restored its three-goal cushion when Akliouche’s shot slipped past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma 10 minutes later.

Haaland scored his second in the 75th minute from Ayyoub Bouaddi’s pass, but goalkeeper Matvei Safonov denied him a hat-trick late on.

At 26 years and 85 days, Haaland became the youngest player to reach 60 Champions League goals. PSG leads the standings with six points from two matches, while City, whose eight-match winning streak came to an end, sits 17th with three points.

Also on Wednesday, Real Madrid came from 3-1 down to beat Roma 4-3, with Antonio Rudiger’s 90th-minute goal completing the comeback. Marten de Roon opened the scoring before Kylian Mbappe equalized, but Donyell Malen struck twice after halftime to put Roma in control.

Carlos Espi pulled one back in the 82nd minute and Endrick leveled three minutes later before Rudiger sealed Madrid’s second win.
