Remittance inflow crosses $10b so far this fiscal amid ME war

Reserves stood at $31.39b as per BPM6 method

Remittance inflows to Bangladesh have crossed the US$ 10 billion mark in the current fiscal year (FY 2026-27), marking a year-on-year growth of 13.1 percent between July 1 and October 14, according to Bangladesh Bank data.

The country received $10.11 billion in remittances during the period, compared with $8.94 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

During the first 14 days of October, Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $1.516 billion, up around 12.2 percent from $1.351 billion received during the same period in October 2025.

Bangladesh received $111 million in remittances on October 14 alone, according to the central bank data.

Bangladesh’s remittance inflow was $2.76 billion in September which is 3 percent higher than the $2.68 billion received in the same month last year.

The sustained growth in remittance inflows is helping strengthen the country’s foreign exchange receipts and supporting the external sector amid ongoing economic challenges.

The consistent inflow of foreign currency provides crucial support to the country’s foreign exchange reserves and overall macroeconomic stability.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s gross foreign exchange reserves stood at US$36.19 billion, according to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Wedneday.

The country’s reserves stood at US$36.19 billion in gross terms, while reserves calculated under the BPM6 (Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, Sixth Edition) methodology stood at US$31.39billion.
