Man held over infant daughter’s killing
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his two-month-old daughter following a family dispute in the capital.
The suspect, identified as Hridoy Khan, was arrested during a joint operation by SRB-4 and SRB-10 in the Dolairpar area of Jatrabari on Sunday night, according to a press release issued by SRB-4.
The press release said Hridoy married Lovely Akter on 2 July 2025. The couple lived in a rented house in the Gaidartek area under Darus Salam Police Station in Dhaka.
They welcomed a baby girl, Sabiha Islam Roza, on 11 June 2026.
Citing the first information report (FIR) and findings from preliminary interrogation, SRB said Hridoy allegedly strangled his daughter on the night of 22 August following a family quarrel while the infant was sleeping beside her mother.
He reportedly fled the scene,
leaving the baby critically injured.
The following morning, Lovely took her daughter to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors referred the infant to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
After undergoing treatment for 16 days, Roza succumbed to her injuries on 6 September.
Following her daughter’s death, Lovely filed a murder case with Darus Salam Police Station.
According to SRB, Hridoy had remained in hiding since the incident. Acting on information about his whereabouts, a joint team tracked him down and arrested him in Jatrabari.
He was subsequently handed over to Darus Salam Police Station for further legal proceedings.
