Sonali Bank MD assures action on permanent jobs for PTCs

A delegation of the Sonali Bank Employees Association B 664 (CBA) has urged the bank’s managing director to make the jobs of temporary part-time PTCs permanent, citing humanitarian grounds and the workers’ prolonged service.

The delegation was led by Mahbub Hossain, general secretary of the association’s Central Executive Committee. Joint General Secretary Jahangir Alam and Al-Amin Sheikh Babul were also part of the delegation, which met the managing director to press for permanent employment for the temporary workers.

During the meeting, Jahangir Alam said the workers had spent a long time in temporary employment, with many having already died and others approaching the end of their working lives.

He urged the bank authorities to regularise their employment on humanitarian grounds, highlighting the difficulties faced by workers who had served for years without permanent job status.

In response, the managing director assured the delegation that the process of making the temporary part-time PTCs’ jobs permanent would begin very soon after the jobs of the bank’s drivers were regularised.

The assurance offered a possible timeline for addressing the workers’ demand, although no specific date for starting the process was mentioned in the information provided.
