World Egg Day celebrated in Rangpur

World Egg Day-2026 was celebrated in a festive atmosphere in Rangpur on Friday with a colourful rally and a discussion meeting highlighting the nutritional benefits of eggs.
The programme was organised under the slogan, “Nutrition in Eggs, Strength in Eggs-Eggs Help Keep Diseases Away,” jointly by the Rangpur District Livestock Office, the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council and the Bangladesh branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association.
Marking the occasion, a colourful rally started from the District Livestock Office in the city in the morning, paraded through major streets and returned to the office, where a discussion meeting was held.
Dr Md Abdul Hai Sarkar, director of the Rangpur Divisional Livestock Office, attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Dr Muha Nazmul Huda, district livestock officer, chaired it.
Special guests included Md Shahadat Hossain (VIP), chairman of VIP Shahadat Group.
; Mahbub Alam, owner of Shakil Poultry Farm; and agriculturist Md Saiful Islam, deputy director of Hasmurgi Khamar. Senior livestock officials from the district and upazila levels were also present.
Speakers highlighted the importance of eggs in meeting the body’s protein and nutritional needs. They said regular egg consumption could support physical growth and strengthen immunity among people of all ages.
They also stressed the need to improve support for poultry farmers and ensure fair prices for eggs in the market.
The speakers expressed hope that the programme would help raise public awareness about the nutritional and health benefits of eggs.
Local dignitaries, livestock department officials and employees, and owners of various poultry farms participated in the rally and discussion meeting.
