Wall collapse kills 2 workers

Two workers were killed when a wall collapsed at a brick kiln in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj around noon on Friday.

The accident occurred at a brick kiln in the Dakshin Charpumdi area under Pumdi Union in Hossainpur upazila.

The deceased were Mohammad Utpal, son of Mohammad Ali, and Golap Mia, son of Shafir Uddin, both from Dakshin Charpumdi village in the same union.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hossainpur Police Station Md Rashedul Islam confirmed the incident Police and local sources said several workers had been working at the brick kiln since morning when, around noon, a wall and a row of bricks placed on it collapsed, falling on four workers.

Local residents rescued four workers, but two of them died at the scene. The other two injured workers were admitted to Hossainpur Upazila Health Complex.

Md Rashedul said police sent a team to the scene after receiving the information.
Further legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, the OC added.
