Police to investigate Nana Patekar’s death
Even as the last rites were performed with full state honours at a farmhouse in Pune, the police are continuing legal proceedings in sudden death of veteran actor Nana Patekar.
Goa’s Panaji police have registered a ‘unnatural death’ case after the actor died of a heart attack at his Dona Paula residence.
A detailed investigation has been initiated under the leadership of PSI Nitin Naik, who has registered a case under Section 194 of the Indian Civil Protection Act.
The police said that this legal action has been taken to investigate whether there is any mystery or conspiracy behind the actor’s death, as per the rules.
Basically, he suddenly fell ill alone at his residence in Goa and after being taken to Manipal Hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital, said, “He was brought to the hospital at around 4:30am.
Despite our best efforts, we did not get any response, he was brought dead. Since this is an accidental death case, the hospital had to submit a report to the police and complete the legal process.”
