BADC project sites inspected ahead of approval

Agriculture Ministry Joint Secretary Maksuda Yasmin visited proposed sites in Munshiganj on October 1 to assess activities planned under the fourth phase of the Greater Dhaka Irrigation Area Development project.

The visit covered proposed activities in Munshiganj Sadar, Louhajang and Sirajdikhan upazilas under the project, which the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) plans to implement, according to a press release.

The inspection formed part of efforts to assess the rationale and feasibility of the proposed activities before the project is approved, while prioritising farmers’ needs.

BADC Chairman Md Azizul Islam has emphasised the importance of thoroughly examining these factors before including activities in project proposals.

He also regularly monitors field-level activities under projects implemented by the corporation, providing advice and instructions to ensure that work meets quality standards and complies with the provisions of the respective development project proposals.

BADC’s Chief Engineer (Irrigation), Chief Planner and other officials were present during the visit.
